Stinky Feet Remedies

When I was a teenager I had the stinkiest feet ever!  I also had athlete's feet which in hindsight was probably the main reason I had stinky feet.  Athlete's foot is a fungal infection and there are a couple powerhouse anti-fungal essential oils that come to mind.  Lemongrass and Geranium both have strong anti-fungal properties.  They also smell wonderful together!  Lemongrass has the potential to be skin irritating so I don't recommend putting it undiluted on the feet.

Suggestions for getting rid of stinky feet:

*  Put lemongrass and or geranium in a lotion base and apply to the feet daily

* Put 1 drop lemongrass or geranium in each shoe once or twice a week to combat stinky shoes

* Wear absorbent socks

* Soak your feet in 1 tablespoon himalayan pink salts and 4-5 drops lemongrass or geranium

Check out our Bye Bye Stinky Feet spray with Lemongrass and Geranium essential oils.

Citrus Essential Oils

Citrus essential oils always make me think of Spring and Summer with their light, bright and uplifting qualities.   Therapeutically citrus essential oils are great for cleaning with due to their high limonene content.  Limonene is antibacterial, anti viral and encourages white blood cell growth making it a great immune supporter.  All the things you want in a cleaning product.  Tangerine and orange essential oils have the highest amounts of limonene at 90% or more.  All the citrus oils are happy, uplifting and good for cheering you up.  They are also relatively inexpensive making them another reason to use them in cleaning products.  Here are some other highlighted therapeutic benefits of some citrus essential oils.  Be sure to read through to the end for a cleaning spray recipe.

Orange Essential Oil:  Stress reliever.  Good for depression.  Good for upset tummies (be sure to dilute it in a lotion or carrier oil before applying to upset tummies or the skin).

Tangerine Essential Oil:  Same therapeutic benefits as orange essential oil.  Good for dizziness.

Lemon Essential Oil:  A natural de-greaser.  Put a few drops on your cutting boards to disinfect.

Lime Essential Oil:  The most aromatic of the citrus oils.  Helps cool a fever and soothes a sore throat.

Grapefruit Essential Oil:  Good for cellulite and jet lag.

A Safety Note:  With the exception of orange essential oil, all the above citrus essential oils are phototoxic.  They can cause burning on the skin if you apply them and then go in the sun.  Always dilute citrus essential oils in lotion or a carrier oil before applying to the skin as they can also be skin irritating.  A good dilution ratio is 8 to 10 drops essential oil to 1 ounce carrier oil or lotion.

New Skin Care Line

Kokokahn's new skin care line is launching!  I'm so excited to announce the launch of our new skin care line.  I've been working on research and development, sourcing high quality ingredients and testing for over a year.  There are 2 main ingredients that highlight the collection.  Unrefined, certified organic Argan Oil and certified organic Frankincense (Boswellia frereana) essential oil.

Argan oil is one of the best carrier oils for skin care due to it's high Vitamin E content.  It is an amazing antioxidant and free radical scavenger helping to repair damaged skin and keep wrinkles at bay.  It has skin softening properties and is good for dry, aging skin.

Frankincense essential oil is also good for dry, aging skin and encourages cell regeneration.  It is one of the best oils I found for dry, wrinkled skin.

Other ingredients used include rosehip seed oil, evening primrose oil, borage seed oil, macadamia oil, lavender (of course!) and carrot seed oil.  All amazing supporters for dry, aging and wrinkled skin.

The collection includes the following:

Lavender Face Cleanser
Lavender Face Spray
Face Cream with Organic Argan Oil
Face Serum for Wrinkles & Age Spots
Face Scrub ~ Almonds & Argan Oil
Face Mask ~ Pore Cleansing Clay Mask

Black Spruce Essential Oil

Black spruce essential oil (Picea mariana) is one of my favorite essential oils for the holidays.  It has a smell that reminds me of Christmas trees.  I find it emotionally soothing with an opening quality that helps me breathe deeply.

Black spruce,  similar to many conifer trees,  is distilled from the needles of the tree.

Black spruce essential oil is made up of 3 main components: Bornyl acetate, alpha-pinene and camphene.   Bornyl acetate makes up about 30% of the essential oil.  Camphene and alpha-pinene each make up about 15% of the essential oil.  Therapeutically bornyl acetate is anti-inflammatory, pain relieving, and a central nervous system sedative.  Camphene helps break up mucous and is an antioxidant.  Alpha-pinene is antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory too.

Top Health Benefits of Black Spruce Essential Oil

* Good for bronchitis
* Good for inflammation and pain
* Stress Reliever
* Good for colds
* Helps break up mucous
* Good adrenal gland supporter

Suggested uses for Black Spruce Essential Oil

* Add 1 drop to a bowl of steaming water, cover your head with a towel, and steam for 2 to 5 minutes for bronchitis or colds.

* Add 10-12 drops to 1 ounce aloe gel and apply to sore muscles.

* Add 8-10 drops to 1 ounce jojoba oil and use as a chest rub before bed to combat a cold.

* Add 8-10 drops to 1 ounce aloe gel and apply to lower back and abdomen to support the adrenal glands and combat fatigue.

Frankincense & Myrrh

Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils have many similarities. As with most essential oils, when we blend them together the synergy of the oils strengthens the health benefits of each individual essential oil.

Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils come from the resin of the tree.  Trees create resin to heal themselves from damage.  It's a hard, thick substance that seals damage and allows the tree to heal itself.  In the picture above is frankincense and myrrh resin.  The lighter pieces are frankincense and the darker ones are myrrh.

Just as the resin helps heal the tree, it also helps heal human skin.  Here is a list of health benefits that frankincense and myrrh share.  They blend beautifully together and are both base notes in perfumery.  Base notes stay with us for a longer period of time, making them great essential oils to wear for perfume.

Frankincense & Myrrh Health Benefits:

Anti-inflammatory
Skin healing
Good for dry, aging skin and wrinkles
Wound healers
Grounding, calming essential oils

Frankincense & Myrrh Uses:

Apply to wounds or skin inflammation
Inhale during meditation or prayer
Add to existing skin care products to combat wrinkles
Wear as a perfume

We are offering a Frankincense & Myrrh Roll On for the holiday season.  Frankincense and myrrh pure essential oils are blended in a cold-pressed, certified organic Jojoba oil base in a convenient roll on and can be used as a perfume, dabbed under the nose during meditation and prayer, or rolled on wounds to help them heal.
